Quick Action Prevents Major Damage from Flood

In a remarkable display of teamwork and preparedness, the team at Manor Walks Shopping & Leisure successfully managed a significant flood incident that occurred on the afternoon of Friday 30th August due to a failed sprinkler valve.

As the water levels began to rise in the centre of the shopping centre in Cramlington, multiple stores had to close with staff promptly initiating emergency protocols. Customers were quickly evacuated to other parts of the mall that remained open throughout to ensure the safety of everyone.

As a result of these prompt actions, although some areas experienced water accumulation, damage was contained and after an extensive clean-up operation, operations were resumed the next day.

During the unprecedented event, the centre team maintained clear communication with shoppers and tenants throughout the incident, providing regular updates via social media.

“Manor Walks Shopping & Leisure is committed to the safety of our visitors and tenants,” said Lee Farrier, Head of Commercial & Workspace at Advance Northumberland. “Thanks to the organisation and teamwork demonstrated, the centre team were able to manage this incident efficiently and reopen the shopping centre in a timely manner.”
